Overview
The funding allocation for the 15-month period January 1, 2010, to March 31, 2011 is being conducted in three phases. These mimic closely the description the application that was submitted to the NCE Program. The complete process is shown in the reporting diagram that summarizes the flow of information.
Phase 1 (almost complete)
- Network investigators submit budget requests, including funds to support collaborating researchers, and project leaders indicate which collaborating researchers are involved in their projects. Target completion date: DONE
- The Research Management Committee reviews budget requests and recommends interim funding awards ($25K) to each of 56 network investigators for 32 projects based on a review of the submitted documents. Target completion date: DONE.
- The Board of Directors reviews the recommendations of the Research Management Committee, after which funding will begin, subject to completion of the Network Agreement being signed by all universities and researchers. (This is expected to be completed by the end of February.) Target completion date: February 26, 2010.
Phase 2 (now underway)
- All NIs are requested to re-enter their funding requests, using the Excel workbook that is currently attached to their Wiki pages. Project leaders are requested to similarly re-enter their project information. Target completion date: February 22, 2010.
- All NIs and CRs are requested to provide information on their affiliation and their HQP plans by completing a Word document that is currently attached to their Wiki pages. Target completion date: February 22, 2010.
- All CRs are requested to provide a PDF version of either their SSHRC CV or their NSERC Form 100 (either is OK). The PDF file should be uploaded as an attachment to their Wiki pages. Target completion date: February 22, 2010.
Phase 3 (now underway, concurrent with Phase 2)
- All project leaders are expected to work with one of more project champions, each of whom provides information related to their involvement in the project by completing a Word document that is currently attached to the project leader's Wiki page. If there is more than one project champion, multiple Word documents will be used. Target completion date: February 22, 2010.
- The Research Management Committee will review all of the Phase 1-2-3 documents and make recommendations to the Board of Directors for final funding allocations for network investigators involved in the current 32 projects. At that time recommendations will also be made to add additional network investigators to GRAND from among the collaborating researchers. Only collaborating researchers identified in the Phase 2 documents will be considered. Target completion date: March 26, 2010.
