Luanne Freund is an assistant professor at the School of Library, Archival and Information Studies, UBC. She completed her PhD at the Faculty of Information Studies at the University of Toronto in 2008. She has research experience on numerous NSERC and SSHRC funded projects involving user studies of interactive information retrieval, held an IBM CAS Fellowship as a doctoral student, and has recently been awarded a three year SSHRC grant to study information behaviour in the context of digital government. Areas of interest include information retrieval, human information interaction in digital environments including e-government and virtual research and learning environments; task- and use-based approaches to searching, and the relationship between tasks and genres in information practices.
