Biography

Edward Lank is an Assistant Professor at the University of Waterloo and co-directs the HCI Lab. His research interests are in pen-based computing (mathematics recognition and novel pen-based interface techniques), mobile computing (emphasis on mobile gaming and mobile information management), and intelligent user interfaces (applying pattern recognition to devise new interactions). He received his Ph.D. in 2001 from Queen's University. From 2002 - 2006 he was an Assistant Professor at San Francisco State University. During his academic career, he has supervised over 30 graduate students at the University of Waterloo and at San Francisco State University. In 2004, while at San Francisco State, he was awarded a National Science Foundation Career Award (IIS-0448540), the NSF's most presigious grant award for young faculty.
