Biography

Lynn Hughes is Associate Dean, Research and International Relations in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Concordia University where she also holds a Research Chair in Interactive Design and Games Innovation. Hughes was instrumental in the conception, structuring and funding of Hexagram, the Montreal Institute for Research/Creation in Media Arts and Technologies. Hexagram is Canada’s largest new media hub with over 80 researchers at the 4 Montreal universities, many international partners and a Board made up of prominent members of the Montreal business community (chaired by a CEO of a games company). In 2000 she founded Interstices, a research group to promote inter‐university, interdisciplinary, team based research in new media with a particular focus on innovative, intuitive physical interfaces. She currently leads cross‐disciplinary teams producing interactive games. Hughes recently co‐ founded the Technoculture, Art and Games research group (TAG) at Concordia to bring together researchers from all four Faculties to work on innovative game design and production. She is PI of the recent LEF for Hexagram.
